2006-09-12 [iippo]: Just checking, the entry has to be in at 13th, not before it? *fidgets for a while then runs off again*

2006-09-12 [Cia_mar]: does that mean you are done with yours already and are anxious to submit???????????

2006-09-12 [iippo]: No, it means I'm panicking about how long, until I have to submit, how long can I keep doing it, and how fast I'll have to rush? xP

2006-09-12 [Cia_mar]: lol.. you will do fine!

2006-09-12 [TheRogue]: same here.. hehe

2006-09-12 [Cia_mar]: of course you will do well! Go Blue!!!!!!

2006-09-12 [Perplexity]: By the end of the day on the 13th - Elftown time (whatever that is lol)

2006-09-12 [Duredhel]: I think Elftown time is GMT rite?

2006-09-12 [Perplexity]: Maybe it is on Linköping time?

2006-09-12 [iippo]: No, it is GMT, British time when not-summer and not-Daylight saving time.

2006-09-12 [Cia_mar]: it is funny but when i read the word "Linköping"...i always say in my head "link hopping"... is that anywhere near the pronounciation?

2006-09-12 [iippo]: Nope. :P Ö = like the vowel sound in "first", or "the" in some accents.

2006-09-12 [Perplexity]: The city of Linköping is roughly pronounced as lin-hsir-ping. The "ir" part as the "ir" as in shirt. The hsir part is pronounced as one syllable, a bit like cher but with the vowel sound as in shirt.

2006-09-12 [Perplexity]: Got this off of http://homepage.ntlworld.com/wilf.james/clubs-se.htm which has lots of other helpful tips on pronunciation in Swedish =) Yay for Google!

2006-09-12 [Perplexity]: The letter k or K can be like the English k but changes to a unique Swedish sound when followed by ä, ö or y.
Curl your tongue backwards so that it touches the rear of your palate. Lower it a little then try to make the "sh" of shoe sound.
I will represent this sound as "hs" in further examples. The usual English "sh" sound is made with the tongue at the bottom of the mouth. With a little practice you will be able to make a fair attempt at making this sound in the Swedish way.
The Swedish equivalent of the French word "cher" is written "kär" and has a very similar sound.

2006-09-12 [Perplexity]: You should hear the funny sounds I am making over here... lol

2006-09-12 [iippo]: This reminds me how much I hated Swedish lessons, lol.

2006-09-12 [Elegy - gone]: If I weren't Norwegian, I wouldn't understand a word of this O.o

2006-09-12 [Perplexity]: lmao

2006-09-12 [Cia_mar]: me too plex!!!!!!!!!!

2006-09-12 [Duredhel]: I'll stick with spanish, thank you XD
